AMERICAN POP is a sprawling historical novel set in Mississippi detailing the rise and fall of the Forster family's soda empire, the first in this fictional American history. Using Nathaniel Hawthorne's observation that "families are always rising and falling in America," Wright looks into the forces that shape destinies and memories, ultimately resulting in a fine story about the the effect success and tragedy can have on people and their families.
